The shield of the Arms of Her Majesty The Queen in Right of Canada surmounting the Mace of the Senate in pale;



The mace, created in 1849, is a symbol of authority in the Senate, and the shield of the Royal Arms of Canada represents the Sovereign of Canada, in whose name the Senate conducts its deliberations.
