A bat displayed Gules surmounting a cloud Argent;
KA GANAWAITAK SAGUENAY;
The bat suggests night flying and the use of radar, while the cloud symbolizes poor visibility. They both refer to the role as an all-weather fighter squadron in 1950s and 1960s.
This Innu phrase means “He who protects the Saguenay”.

The announcement of the Letters Patent was made on March 23, 2013, in Volume 147, page 538 of the Canada Gazette.
The badge was originally approved in October 1955.
